Perfect combo.

A couple of nights ago, one of my writers and I went to the Oak Bar at the beautiful Hermitage Hotel.
We wanted to try out the "Live to be 100 Red Wine & Chocolate Pairing." Pastry Chef Andy Manchester of Capitol Grille recently developed a new wine and dessert pairing, and it has been very popular since it's inception! Obviously, you all know I love wine. So when I read about this wine AND chocolate pairing, I knew I had to grab a fellow foodie and try this out! Thanks to Beth over at Eat.Drink.Smile for doing a wonderful job of covering this! If you are in Nashville and love food, you should check this blog out for sure! It's great!

This leaf was made of chocolate, too...so good!

From left to right:

Blackberry Truffle
Valrhona chocolate - 60% bitter chocolate made from pure Trinitario beans from the Caribbean. This dark brown Grand Cru chocolate has notes of dried fruit & tobacco.
Jeb Steele's Shooting Star, "Black Bubbles," Sparkling Syrah, Lake County
Late harvest Syrah sparkling wine made in the Methode Champenoise process. Medium bodied, with hints of blackberry and chocolate

Star Anise Ganache Brownie
Valrhona chocolate - 61% general purpose chocolate, elegant chocolate flavor, slightly bitter taste but full and powerful.
d'Arenburg Love Grass, Shiraz, Australia 2007
100% Shiraz with great balance and strong tannins, with high alcohol content; jammy characteristics of bing cherries, dates, and chocolate

Cacao Berry Espresso Caramel Tart
70% Cacao Barry Saint-Domingue, combines an exceptionally long finish and produces a dark chocolate flavor
Kaiken Cabernet Sauvignon, Mendoza Argentina 2007
Medium bodied wine with moderate tannins from aged oak barrels; has characteristics of black cherries, prunes, and chocolate

To Me. From Me.

Seeing as how my birthday was over a month ago, it's about time I did this post.

A couple days before my birthday, I went into a boutique here in Nashville. I walked in the door and saw there was a shoe sale going on. Now, if you know me, you know I love shoes. (And bracelets. But that's a post for later.) I wear a size 7, and I feel they are usually the first to go in a sale. I walked over and didn't really expect to see anything. Then all of a sudden I saw these beautiful, black (my favorite color) very high heeled (my favorite kind of shoe) Prada shoes just BEGGING for me to try them on. I did. I fell in love. I bought them. I justified it by thinking to myself:
A) I've never bought a pair of shoes - of this caliber - on my own.
B) They are on sale.
C) It's my birthday. Well, it was almost my birthday :)

I'm so happy with my purchase, and I know I can wear them with anything and everything! I am nuts over these shoes. Period.

Well, hello Spring!

I cannot tell you how glad I am that spring is FINALLY here! Even though winters are usually pretty mild in Tennessee, this one seemed longer and colder than usual. (All you people from up North, don't you dare say anything... I am a weenie when it comes to the cold, ok?!?)

This weather is perfect - high 60s/low 70s and sunny - but it makes it a little tricky to dress because as we all know, there are still a few cold spells to come & it still gets chilly at night. I laugh (on the inside, of course) when people, at the first sign of Spring, pull out their skirts and sandals... it's not quite time yet my darlings! I tried to balance the spring weather with my outfit yesterday. It was a little chilly in the morning, so I layered with a thin cardigan. I am glad I can finally wear these tights, too. The type of weave makes them hard to wear in the dead of winter, but now they are perfect! Maybe the over-the-knee boots don't scream "Spring," but I love them and want to wear them as much as I can before putting them away for the summer months! So don't be surprised if you see them in a couple more posts soon :)

Besides layering, what are some of the things you incorporate when the spring weather arrives? Enjoy your day!

Not the best picture of me but wanted to show you guys my earrings! I got them at a random little boutique in Portland, OR last summer. I love going to cities and finding no-name brands of funky jewelry! Next time you're in a new city,  you should look for a fun find too! (long chain earrings with a turquoise bead nestled in the middle)

Cardigan: French Connection, dress: forgot the name - from a boutique in my hometown,
belt: Express, boots: Nine West

Love these tights! They were a gift from my aunt Carol :) (my 2nd mom!)

Spring has arrived in Nashville!

Long time no blog!

Welcome back, Lindsay...

Again, my apologies for the lack of posts lately. Now that the play is over, my nights are free again. (Thus, giving me more time to kill on the Internet and blog.) The play was great, and it was WONDERFUL to be back on stage again! After the play, my honey surprised me with a last-minute trip to visit him in FL. I just got back tonight. See? I really am dedicated to this blog :)

I wanted to include a couple of my casual outfits in this post, but what I really wanted to focus on was WINE! Wine is among my favorite things to learn & talk about, and let's be honest...drink! A good red wine, to me, is heaven. I love drinking old favorites, finding new ones, and sharing special moments with great friends while drinking it. One day I want to own a vineyard. Well, after being on Broadway...taking Kelly Ripa's job.... owning a clothing store like my aunts & mom did....traveling the world....having a family...and much more. That's do-able, right??

LINDSAY LOVES IT ALL TOP 5 WINE PICKS:

My all-time favorite wine: Duckhorn Cab (2005 & 2006 vintages are the best!)

Had this one this weekend at Mangrove Grill, and it's a close second! Again, a great vintage!

This wine was a surprise hit! Chris joined a wine club while in San Francisco & this was a bottle sent with the second shipment. We LOVED it!

Didn't have a picture my #4, but Silver Oak did not disappoint! I know it's a pretty standard favorite, but it is for a good reason. This was amazing! (picture from Google Images)

My favorite wine shop in Nashville, The Green Hills Wine Shoppe, sold me on this previously unknown wine. Now I am hooked! Plus it's so affordable, at around $12.

You know, I have to list a couple others, too. The "runners up" as I like to call them :)
- Hazyblur McLauren Vale Shiraz
- Broadside Cab (this one almost made the Top 5!)
- Hyatt Baumbach Charbono
- Cedarville Cab 2005
- Plumpjack Cab
- Broquel Bonarda

What are your favorites?

Sushi outfit: C&C California shrug, LnA tshirt & leggings, Nine West over-the-knee boots, Virgin Saints and Angels necklace, Gucci sunglasses

Baseball game outfit: Scarf from Henri Bendel, Kain label tshirt, and some of my favorite casual jewelry!

Oscar Dress Picks.

Here are my top 5 picks for best dresses from last night's 2010 Oscars! Drum roll please..............

#5 Miley Cyrus in Jenny Packham (Surpise pick)

#4 SJP in Chanel Couture (fresh take on an Oscar dress...hair, not so much)

#3 Jennifer Lopez in Armani PrivĂ© (Love the shape of the dress!)

#2 Vera Farmiga in Marchesa (ADORED HER GOWN & how it was constructed)

#1 Zoe Saldana in Spring 2010 Givenchy Couture gown by Riccardo Tisci

Honorable Mention: the always stunning Kate Winslet in YSL

Honorable mention: Cameron Diaz in Oscar de la Renta (best she's looked at an award show!)

As far as I'm concerned #1 and #2 could be switched, too. I loved both dresses equally. Zoe's won me over because of how jaw-droppingly different it was. And if you know me, you know I love DIFFERENT! With all the components to the dress fitting together so well, I'd say she stood out the most.
My motto: It's better to be stared at than ignored!

Who were your picks?

Orange Colored Sky.

I went wig shopping on Friday, which was a first for me. I have to be a brunette for certain parts of the play I'm in. I found it a little ironic that I had to buy a brunette wig, since I am naturally brunette. Trying on those dark wigs made me miss my dark hair....for about a minute! :) I love being blonde and have the rest of my life to be brunette! Believe it or not, this dress is Forever21. I instantly fell in love with it's bold orange color, exposed back zipper, and best of all...the crazy, pointy sleeves! So many unique details in one little dress! All for $22. Gotta love that!

Belt: The Limited

See how pointy the sleeves are?!

My favorite winter boots: Suede & patent leather from Nine West

   * Thanks to my friend, Kelly, for taking these pics! You're amaizng, and I appreciate the time it took to take the pics!

Alexander Wang.

Ever since falling in love with Alexander Wang's paper thin t-shirts a couple years ago, the designer has been on my radar. When I got my Shopbop email this morning, I almost wiped out my entire bank account for the Spring 2010 collection. Here are some of my faves.... Happy weekend everyone!

You could do so much with these black leather drawstring shorts!!

Same with the brown! Especially going with those fab shoes!!!

Interesting....

I would wear these shoes every day, with any outfit - both dressy and casual.

Summer version of the LBD!

Saved the best for last... I am NUTS over these shoes!!! The shape is so unique!
