Who got lucky?

Thanks for hanging with me while I tried to figure out the random number generator thingy. Let me just say again, I am SO terrible with all things technical when it comes to blogging and HTML. (I don't think I even know what that means.) So if anyone has any tips or hints at how to become more savvy, definitely leave it in the comment section or email me. Any specific tips on how to make my pictures bigger is welcome as well! :)

Ok...enough of that.... THE WINNER OF THE GIVEAWAY IS......

KIM PORTER at Makeup by Kim Porter

Kim has an amazing blog...check it out! Thank you to every single person who entered! I love it that you all support my blog. It really makes me smile to know people continue to support my blog. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!! xx

P.S. Stay tuned... I'm doing my post on Chicago within the next day or two!

Engagement Pictures.

Hi guys! I am back from Chicago, as of this evening. I am so tired, but I got the disk of all my engagement pictures in the mail while I was gone!! I couldn't help going through all of them before I went to bed, and I wanted to share a few with y'all :) Hope you enjoy them! I will announce the giveaway winner tomorrow! Still trying to figure out a cool way to pick a random number, ha!

One of my faves!

We turned a nice engagement session into a cracker jack fight :)

Two can play at this game....

Another fave!

And another!

Like I needed the wind to make my hair even MORE crazy!

The end.

Sorry for over-sharing! I am just so excited about getting these back! My little honey does not like taking pictures, so he really rallied for me here. I was so glad we got to get engagement pictures taken since we do not live in the same city! He found an amazing photographer in the Bradenton/Sarasota, FL area. I would HIGHLY recommend her for engagement or newborn shots! Her name is Jennifer Soos, and you can check out her website and work here. She's very laid-back and easy to work with. She made us both very comfortable and allowed us to be creative in the shots we wanted. We found a gem of a photographer!

Sunday Style: Home Edition

One of my favorite things to collect - besides shoes - is pottery. Not just any old pottery, though...

My brother went to school at The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), so every time we would go down to a game my mom and I went shopping at the many locally owned boutiques and shops. Mississippi is known for their pottery, and the shops in Oxford, MS have no shortage of it! Like anything, there are many designers and brands of pottery. My two favorite are Peter's Pottery and McCarty Pottery. They are a lot alike, both in the clay used and the color schemes. I think, like a pair of jeans, that pottery can be "dressed up" or "dressed down." By that, I mean a piece can be in the nicest of living rooms (as I will show you later in this post) - or in the most casual apartment or fun lake house - and still stand out and look like it belongs there. My mom and I collect different pieces and like the same color (turquoise). My mom has pieces that are brown/tan and some that are cobalt blue, so there are several ways to incorporate these beautiful pieces into your home or apartment!

Here are pieces from my collection:

Vase with unique shaped bottom.

Love this bowl! It sits in the middle of my dining room table usually. Couldn't get a good pic of it there, so I moved it on top of the wine refrigerator.

Coffee creamer/sugar set. So cute!

Small bowl - great for entertaining!

Wine chiller.

Some of my mom's collection:

One of my favorite shaped bowls. You can do so much with this piece!

This is my mom's set of candle holders. (and another random bowl)
Although you can't see here, hers are in a much more formal setting than mine.
Yet they still work!

Big severing platter, in the more cobalt blue color.
Again - very versatile... use for serving food or like my mom does here as a decorating piece.

A Serving/Decorating piece at my mom and dad's lake house.
Very fitting for the lake!

Snake Skin Crush.

I have a crush on this dress....

Parker Dress found here.

You could do SO many things with this dress, and that's why it caught my eye at first. Then I noticed the subtle snake skin print and adorable double flared sleeves! Special touches like those just take a dress to the next level. I also love the nude coloring of the dress. It makes it simple to add so many neat elements to the dress once on. (i.e. Adding a pop of color like red, hot pink, or bright yellow...or black chunky shoes like the girl in the picture, or amazing over-the-knee boots when it starts getting cooler) Adding a floppy black felt hat would look cool, as well! What would you do to this dress to make it "you?"

My Favorite Summer Dish.

When the heat sets in, I love to have light dishes that scream "summer." In Nashville, there are several fruit and veggie stands that pop up all over the city. One happens to be right across the street from me, and I love it! Fresh and locally grown produce is the way to go during the summer. I always know that means home-grown tomatoes...which are among my top favorite foods! You can't beat one sliced with salt & pepper! I love to make caprese salads, which consists of fresh tomato sliced with mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. Any good quality olive oil and balsamic vinegar will work, but last summer in Seattle I found the perfect duo! Each time I would visit, I would head down to Pike's Place Market. One my last trip I discovered Sotto Voce oils and vinegars. I instantly fell in love with not only all the flavors they had - but the owner as well. He was so sweet and helpful. We tasted everything they made, and believe me - I wanted it all! However, when I travel, I pack everything in my closet for my trips (bad, I know) so I knew that buying  more than 2 would cause me great trouble and $$ at the Southwest check in :)

I settled on the two that stuck with me the most: Olio Dorato and Aceto Balsamico. The Olio Dorate is a lemon infused oil combines dried lemons with sun-dried tomatoes, cinnamon sticks & mulling spices in a 'golden' garlic olive oil. The Aceto Balsamico is a Modenaceti Balsamic Vinegar infused with whole garlic cloves, crushed red peppers & whole red chilis. I thought the two of them together would be very unique and tasty, and boy I was right! I LOVE this combo, but they are also amazing on their own as well. I use these two products when making my caprese salads at home. I also use the oil when roasting veggies or cooking chicken. I use the balsamic on salads, and it adds a bit of "pop" to the whole thing! Check out the website...I'm sure you'll be as hooked as I was!

Obsessed.

My ingredients. Got the fresh mozzarella cheese from a woman here in Nashville
that makes her own cheeses! Check her out here

What are some of your favorite summer dishes?

Here are some of the highlights! I love to travel and do so a lot because of my fiance. I will always share restaurants, shops, etc. that I find in the cities I visit. My Must Haves. Volume Two.

It's been a crazy week! I've been all over middle and west Tennessee, and to top it all off... My best friend since childhood just had her baby this morning!!! Welcome to the world Berkley Kate! :)
I thought I would share my other "must haves" with you guys. Thanks for all the comments and recommendations for other products I should try out. If you should know something, I am a bit obsessed with trying new products, so it's likely I will try them all! ha  Here are my other picks...

Bare Minerals makeup. As I said before, my skin is so sensitive.
This makeup is my saving grace! It gives good coverage and an amazing glow!
I use all 3 products: the makeup, bronzer, and mineral veil.

All time fave mascara = MAC Zoom Lash in Black.
And it's only about $14!

Runner up mascara.
It's a little pricey, but it works great on my lashes!
(Tip: MAC is supposed to have one that rivals this, as of last month!)

For blush/bronzer I also use MAC blush in Raizin.
It's more like a bronzer, but I love the color it gives.

Bobbi Brown's shimmer bricks are my #1 pick for getting that GLOW!
I have a couple of them: bronze and the original one.

MAC eye shadow in "All that Glitters"
I use this everyday and get tons of compliments on it!
I wear with a strong black eye liner (below), and it's the perfect nude eye!

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil in "Zero."
Best consistency in an eye liner I've ever found!
It goes on VERY black, which I love.

Best nude lip: YSL lipstick in No. 26 paired with...

YSL gloss in #3 (Pure Coral)

And my newest obsession: Cle de Peau concealer.
My new fave under eye concealer! It stays put and does not crease!

Great value & great colors!
My two must haves are "Cherry Twist" and "Berry Burst."

I use this product every time I fly...which is a lot :)
I love it!

I would love to know the products you all use and can't live without! xx
